Former top referee rules on controversial incident in Newcastle United v Manchester United game



Dermot Gallagher reviews controversial decisions in the Premier League after each round of games, on behalf of Sky Sports, and has given his call on this Newcastle United v Manchester United match incident.
The incident happening late in the second-half when Newcastle were leading.
Dermot Gallagher looking into whether Scott McTominay should have been red carded rather than receiving a yellow, when he ‘caught Sean Longstaff on the leg with his studs.’

Last weekend Dermot Gallagher gave his verdict on the Isaac Hayden red card at Leicester.
A week ago stating that Hayden ‘ticks all the boxes’ for a red card, as the challenge had ‘Speed, intensity and point of contact, it’s dangerous.’ Gallagher believing that ‘there is no defence’ for what the midfielder did and he deserved to go.
Many Newcastle fans believing that McTominay did deserve to be sent off, the same as Isaac Hayden the previous week.
However, Dermot Gallagher disagrees and explains why.
