Eddie Howe says Kieran Trippier will undergo further tests after suffering a calf injury in Newcastle United’s 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.
Goals from Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento sealed the victory for Newcastle at St James’ Park.
But Newcastle were dealt a blow early in the second half when Trippier was forced off in the 52nd minute due to a calf problem.
The England international is now in a race to be fit for Newcastle’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge a week on Monday.
‘Kieran felt something in his calf and had to come off the pitch,’ Howe said after Newcastle’s win over Wolves.
‘That is a concern for us, although I don?t know how serious it is at this moment.’

In a separate interview with Newcastle’s in-house media, Howe added: ‘He felt a pain in his calf, we’re hopeful it’s not too bad.
‘It was good to see him walk down the touchline rather than limp, so we’ll wait and see how bad that is.’
