Kieran Trippier is ‘improving’ but might be unable to feature in Newcastle United’s clash against Everton on Tuesday night due to his calf injury.
That’s according to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, who has provided a fresh update on the 33-year-old, who picked up a problem in the win over Wolves on March 2.
With 10 assists and a goal across 25 Premier League appearances this term, Trippier is a key player for the Magpies and he is ‘desperate’ to make a return.
But Howe does not want to rush Trippier over his injury comeback and has suggested he remains doubtful for the midweek match against Everton.
‘Kieran is improving,’ Howe said. ‘It?s a difficult injury for him, an injury to the calf, one we have to be very careful with and we’d hoped he’d be fit in and around [the West Ham] game but we’ll have to wait and see how he goes.
‘He’s desperate to be involved, he knows what’s at stake for us towards the end of the season and his qualities are obvious.
‘We’re desperate to have him back, but it has to be at the right time.’
