“Scruffy” it may have been but City deliver an away-day masterclass at Deepdale
If only there were a Championship table based on a team’s ability to wind up opposition managers.
If so, we wouldn’t be stressing about whether or not we can claim a playoff place. We’d be prime Leicester City in early January. Seventeen points clear. Champions in waiting.
Ryan Lowe yesterday joined an ever-growing list of head honchos who couldn’t believe his team’s misfortune when faced with the Canaries of Wagner. “We were the better side”, claimed Lowe in his post-match press briefing; the bitter sting of tears strewn all over his face.
If our Ryan had delivered the more traditional ‘fairly even game won by a bit of quality‘ line, no one would have blinked – it would have been a fair summation of events at Deepdale – but no, he was having none of it. “Scruffy” was how he described Gabriel Sara’s moment of brilliance.
Yes, it did take a little flick off a defender before it found the corner of the net. But scruffy, Ryan" Come on, lad. You’re better than that.
Yet, as I mentioned above, he’s not alone. Far from it. The company he keeps includes Kieran McKenna (x2), Mark Robins, and that nice Russell Martin.
All have been distinctly unimpressed with City while simultaneously dropping points against us.
