Fun times in NR1 as City hit four for the second time this week
Aside from Sydney van Hooijdonk making it 5-1 with the final touch of the game, I’m not sure that could have gone much better.
Dare I say it, it even felt like peace had broken out in NR1.
The fans played their part, so too David Wagner, but at its core was what must surely have been the best player-for-player performance of the campaign so far.
From Angus through to Sarge and everyone in between – they all contributed to one of those Carrow Road days that acted as a timely reminder (very timely indeed if you’re a club bean counter) of why we do it.
The caveat, of course, is that it was all played out against a Cardiff side who were so bereft of ideas it’s hard to believe they are not occupants of the bottom three, but – as the saying goes – you can only beat what’s put before you and, besides, we’ve lost to plenty of crap opponents in the not-so-distant past.
As complete performances go, this was right up there.
And that atmosphere – chalk and cheese from Tuesday night, and I’m not just talking about the noise levels. There was bonhomie in the air, aided by contrition on both sides and Wagner, in particular, having the decency to row back on the strength of his post-match comments in midweek.
