Let’s hope Wagner’s olive branch is the start of a return to happier times
The last nine days have certainly been eventful for those who follow Norwich City. Attention has largely been focused on the fan base and the reaction to those substitutions last Tuesday night. So too on the words of the head coach and the reaction of the players.
It seems to be in vogue nowadays to label everyone who expresses an opinion, and then for those of a contrary position to use that tag as a derogatory term to devalue those opposing views. The world seems to have become polarised and people seem to have become entrenched in their views
Think Brexiteer or Remainer, Scottish independence, Democrat or Republican. In the Yellow and Green circles, we have our version ? ‘Happy Clapper’, and more recently, the ’20 percenters’ and Wagner-in or Wagner-out.
This division has also characterised relationships between the Club and its supporters with the feeling of an ever-increasing gulf between the two. And last Tuesday, matters came to a head.
For me, it has been difficult to follow the games over the last week and a bit. Work has meant I have missed the last two Saturday games and could only watch from a distance on Tuesday. However, it also meant that as I took the long drive up the A1 from Luton back home on Saturday, I was able to catch some of the second half on Radio Norfolk, at the extremes of medium wave reception (readers under 30 may not understand!)
