No such thing as a bad pro … but for some it just doesn’t work out
It’s going to be a long fortnight. Mid-season international breaks are veritable nightmares for editors of football websites that stick to the domestic scene. Even more so when there is no imminent transfer window.
So, to an old friend I’ve turned, who has kindly given us the nod to resurrect some of his classic columns of yesteryear.
Therefore, I give you Ed Couzens-Lake’s 2013 take on NCFC players of the past who should have but didn’t make the grade … at least not in a yellow shirt.
*(With Ed’s permission, some references have been updated to make them 2024-friendly).

One of my favourite sayings goes along the lines of, ?The more light you give out, the greater the shadow you cast.?
I?m not sure of its origins, indeed, it?s probably a derivative of a slightly more well-known quote but, despite that, I like it, and, in the simple but furious process that is the workings of my mind, I am prone to mulling it over on both good and bad days.
But enough home-spun philosophy. Well, almost, because it dawned on me whilst cogitating over an All-time NCFC XI that my little shred of wisdom can easily be applied to football, professional footballers and Norwich City.
Think about it. There I was, conjuring up the great names and memories of the past, great players and moments in the club’s history accompanied by thoughts of why this player should be picked while others should be discarded.
Lots of footballing ...
