Still so many questions and what-ifs regarding Mr Wagner
The Wagner debate roars on among the City fanbase. After an appalling mid-season run, the German has seemingly turned his and his side’s fortunes around, propelling them ahead of the chasing pack and needing three more points to secure one of those final two playoff spots.
After a frustrating draw at home to in-form Bristol City, the Wagner debate reared its ugly head once again on social media. I hope to use this article to try and make some sense of where I am regarding Wagner, and where his future should lie because to be quite frank, right now I have no clue.
I was very open across social media regarding my frustrations at Wagner during the dismal run, but I now feel it is right to praise him, his coaches and the players for the turnaround, particularly at home, since the turn of the year.
That begs the question, why are there still slight doubts for me and some sections of the fanbase, as to whether he should remain in post over the summer, even if we finish in the playoffs"
I think a major factor so far, at least from an outside perspective, is around squad sizing and transfers, where there appear to be differing visions from Wagner and sporting director Ben Knapper.Â
