So, while we?re still not sure what the question is, we know the answer (or at least part of the answer) is Sydney van Hooijdonk.
Although, to those of us of a certain generation, the name van Hooijdonk means something different..
Back in the mid to late 1990s, this big old Dutch bloke suddenly started scoring goals by the dozen for Celtic. So many goals in fact, Nottingham Forest decided to bring him south of the border, where he continued to score goals by the dozen.
He didn’t hang around at either Celtic or Forest too long ? two seasons at each club ? but wherever he went he continued to score goals. In addition to Celtic and Forest, he also played for RBC Roosendaal, NAC Breda, Vitesse Arnhem, Benfica, Feyenoord, and Fenerbahce. He also played 46 times for his country.
That was Pierre van Hooijdonk. Father of Sydney.
So young Sydney had a head start on many in that Dad was, and still is, a low-ranking member of Dutch footballing royalty. Dad was also a sporting director at NAC Breda when, as an 18-year-old, Sydney made his league debut for them on 5 October 2018.
It wasn?t a stellar season for NAC Breda though and ended in relegation from the Eredivisie. During that campaign, Sydney made 12 appearances ? all from the bench ? but failed to either score a goal or add an assist.
