The Preview – Norwich City v Watford
And so to a Tuesday night under the lights at Carrow Road.
We have at least moved past the point we were at earlier in the season where every game felt like a chore that would end in almost inevitable disappointment. Now we?re into pot luck territory.
Which Norwich will show up" The one that beats WBA and Coventry with a little hint of the old swash and buckle, or the one that is frustratingly disjointed and only creates occasional moments of excitement when one of our flair players switches on momentarily"
Watford, at least, are a little more predictable recently. The definition of bang average, they sit in eleventh at the time of writing with a record of ten wins, eleven draws, and ten defeats.
In the last month, they have one win, ironically managing to get away from QPR with a 2-1 win in mid-January, before drawing 1-1 at Bristol City, 1-1 at home against Southampton in the cup, 0-0 away at Sheffield Wednesday, losing 0-1 at home to Cardiff, losing the cup replay 3-0 at St Mary?s, and then losing 2-1 at home vs Leicester.
So, basically, reasonably difficult to beat but without producing anything more than the basics at the other end of the pitch.
If their results have been relatively predictable, their team selections have been far more changeable. Valerian Ismael appears to be using the same random selection generator that Wagner employed earlier in the season. They mostly line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation.
In goal, the gloves have see-sawe...
