With the final whistle celebrations still booming in their ears from Saturday, the players have the unenviable task of trying to reinvigorate themselves physically and mentally for that most confusing of appointments, namely Wednesday on a Tuesday.
Despite their humble 23rd place in the table, the fact that the Owls have amassed 42 points with five games to go following the start they had, shows just how far they have come.
The table feels particularly unforgiving in this regard, as their form since current manager Danny Rohl arrived in October has been sufficient to have taken them closer to mid-table in most seasons. Only an insanely competitive lower half of the table has seen them remain among a pack of nine teams with only five points separating them, two of whom will join Rotherham in League One next season.
Rohl has been tweaking the formation in recent weeks, and following the 2-0 away win over QPR at the weekend, the smart money is on them retaining a 4-4-2 against City rather than revert to the three or five at the back they have tried previously, with varying effectiveness.
In goal, they signed 19-year-old James Beadle from Brighton in January and the England U20 international has started every game since. He displaced Cameron Dawson who had a poor first half of the season.
