The Preview ? Stoke City v Norwich City
Here we go.
Assuming City can maintain their performance levels at home, our end-of-season fate will come down to whether we improve them on the road.
For half an hour at Middlesbrough, the answer seemed to be a clear yes. Then ? well, there?s been plenty enough said about all that.
If anyone?s in doubt about the home-and-away contrast, recent stats paint a stark picture. In our last four home games, we?ve scored 14 and conceded 3. In the last four away games ? no more difficult on paper ? we?ve scored 4 and conceded 7.
Across the season, our home record is now the third-best in the division. Our away record is 19th.
An immediate chance to improve that miserable record, and go into the international break with a spring in our step, presents itself on Saturday at Stoke.
It?s another one of those where we?d expect to be technically superior, but the opposition have equal motivation to fight for the points. Stoke are one of seven clubs, separated by only three points, battling to avoid joining Rotherham in relegation to League One.
Almost needless to say, their home form is better than our away form.
Stoke?s form has also picked up since December ? not dramatically, but enough for them to be dubbed ?improving?. More specifically, it?s picked up since they replaced Alex Neil as manager with Steven Schumacher.
Schumacher was on the radar of several clubs after his eye-catching success with Plymouth, culminating in the League One title last season...
