Three games to define our season, and then a summer of uncertainty
Over the coming weeks and months, many questions will be asked of Norwich City on social media and in the many media outlets.
Barring the Norfolk Group investing mega bucks into refinancing all outstanding debts, City might – as rumours suggest – be close to the limit of FFP (or whatever it’s called now), so a lot depends on the upcoming three games (hopefully) and how we fare in them.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Did Stuart Webber and David Wagner make a mistake last summer by letting Christos Tzolis go out on loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf with an option to buy rumoured to be ?5M plus add-ons" Twenty goals and 15 assists later we’re reading that three clubs in the Bundesliga are interested along with another in Turkey. He appears to be a player in demand.
My question is, with a buy option included in his loan deal, do City have to accept it if the club that has that option wants to take it up when other clubs might be willing to offer a higher transfer fee"
Closer to home, one goalkeeper has signed a new deal and another appears to be on his way.
Dan Barden has signed a new contract that takes him through to 2026 and will, effectively, see him as third choice (as things stand), while Jon McCracken, who is currently on loan at Dundee looks likely to be released. His deal with the Scottish Premiership side is similar to the Tzolis ? I believe there?s an option to extend ? so maybe City should take that up and sell for a...
