According to MARCA. Nacho Fernandez, captain of Real Madrid, will depart the club at the end of the 2023-24 season, according to a report in Spanish outlet MARCA. The defender, a product of Real Madrid?s youth academy and lifelong supporter of the club, has opted not to extend his contract, expiring this summer.
Fernandez?s decision paves the way for a new chapter in his career as he explores opportunities as a free agent. Real Madrid, with established center-backs Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and David Alaba, will likely turn to the transfer market to find a replacement. Promising 18-year-old Lent Yoro, who has impressed with French club Lille, could be a target for Real Madrid. Rafa Marin, currently on loan at Alaves, is reportedly viewed as a backup option if Yoro becomes too expensive.
