Southampton will not profit from a Liverpool Champions League final win



So many Southampton players at Liverpool…
It has become a running joke that Liverpool love to do their transfer shopping at Southampton.
Liverpool are expected to start the Champions League final in Kiev against Real Madrid with no less than three ex-Southampton players.
Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren and Sadio Mane all came into English football at Southampton before being sold for big profits to Liverpool.
Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana are also expected to be on the bench for Liverpool in the Champions League final, having been signed from Southampton.
Whilst Southampton fans are likely still relieved that their side are still a Premier League team, it has been revealed by Paul Joyce in The Times that there will be no windfall coming the Saints way if Liverpool are victorious. Southampton failed to put in any Champions League bonus clauses
Paul Joyce of The Times, one of the most reliable journalists around, reveals that there are no bonus payments in any of the five ex-Southampton players contracts at Liverpool regarding winning the Champions League.
Joyce writes: “The only payments Liverpool make to clubs in addition to transfer fees are triggered by appearance-related clauses and linked to Champions League qualification.”
So, Southampton look likely to earn from Liverpool finishing fourth in the Premier League, ...
