Manchester United are set to land their first summer signing as Swansea City winger Daniel James completed his medical on Thursday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen areas of his squad and has identified James as a player who can fill the void on United’s flanks.
James, who is capable of playing either on the right or left side of an attack, was one of Swansea City’s key players this season, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists in 35 appearances.
As Metro.co.uk reported last month, Solskjaer has been impressed with James’ performances and the United boss consulted Wales manager Ryan Giggs to get a better idea of the 21-year-old’s mentality. James has agreed a £67,000-a-week deal with United (PA Wire)
It’s understood that Giggs gave a glowing reference of James, and said he had ?no doubt? about the winger?s quality.
James had a medical at United’s training ground on Thursday and is now on the verge of finalising his £18 million move to Old Trafford.
Swansea had initially wanted £30m for James, while United were hoping to complete a deal for £10m after Leeds United came close to signing the midfielder in the January transfer window.
