Stan Collymore rips into Swansea’s plan to become Man City

Stan Collymore on Swansea City
The Daily Mirror have published a new article from Stan Collymore on Swansea City.
Swansea are the Premier League’s bottom club on Christmas Day.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the Swans are without a manager as they head into the new year.
When Swansea sacked Paul Clement last week, many assumed the Welsh club had a plan in place. Yet, almost a week later and with no new manager appointed, it’s beginning to become apparent that that isn’t the case.
Swansea’s plan to become Man City
For Collymore, Swansea’s demise is the fault of the club’s American owners.
And the talking head has slammed them as follows:
I lay the blame for how things have gone squarely with Swansea?s ownership.
And it looks to be another damning case of American owners bowling in to a football club and things heading south almost immediately.
The new owners have come in and said [adopts dodgy American accent]: ?We?re big-time Charlies, we?re going to turn Swansea City into Manchester City.? And they have messed it right up. For the record, there is no factual basis for the claim Swansea wanted to follow Man City’s model.
Collymore appears to have fabricated that line simply to paint the American owners as delusional.
Swansea are the new Aston Villa
Not content with comparing Swansea to Man City, Collymore also compared the Welsh club to Aston Villa.
And that’s far from a compliment, as Collymore charges both clubs with being run incompetently:
I don?t think due diligence was done either when selling the club ? it looks similar to what Doug Ellis did with Aston Villa when he said: ?Right, I?m going to cash my chips in, I?m going to get paid a shedload of money and not worry about what happens to the club as it moves on.?
(Swansea) have gone from being a club which brought through dynamic young players and bought well on a proper budget to being just another club that has had its fingers burnt.
