Swansea City have held talks with former Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris with Blues legend John Terry also linked with the job.
On Monday, Terry announced his decision to leave his post as Dean Smith?s right-hand man at Aston Villa in order to pursue his own managerial ambitions.
The 40-year-old is the odds-on favourite to take over at the Liberty Stadium following Steve Cooper?s exit at the end of last season.
However, The Athletic report there it is currently a two-horse race for the Swansea job ? between Russell Martin and Terry?s former Chelsea teammate Morris.
The report claims Morris has already held talks with the Championship club.

The 42-year-old has been out of work since leaving Chelsea with Frank Lampard in January with more talks planned this week.
Terry meanwhile says he is ready to take up a new challenge in management having cut his teeth as an assistant head coach since 2018.
?My immediate plan is to spend some quality time with my family and, thereafter, hopefully take up some invitations to visit clubs and managers around Europe to develop my aim and objective of becoming a manager.
?It has always been my ambition to move into football management and, providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up such a challenge.?
