‘Getting exploited’ – Tim Sherwood thinks Spurs defender is actually more of a midfielder
Tim Sherwood has said that Pedro Porro was struggling when he was asked to feature as a convention right-back, suggesting that the Spaniard has only improved after Ange Postecoglou changed his position.
Sherwood has already aimed several barbs at Porro in the defender’s 15-month stay at Tottenham.
In fact, the former Spurs interim boss launched a scathing criticism of the right-back after his debut for the Lilywhites against Leicester City last year, stating at the time that the right-back was “so bad it?s unbelievable” (talkSPORT).
The pundit took had another pop at the former Sporting Lisbon man earlier this season, referring to him as “a poor defender” (The Standard)
It is fair to say that over the course of this season, Porro has proved his critics wrong as he has not only continued to showcase his quality in the final third but has also been very competent defensively.

Pedro Porro finally gets a Tim Sherwood compliment
The 23-year-old?s one-v-one defending has generally been impressive but it turns out that Sherwood is still not convinced about the Spurs star’s ability to defend.
The 55-year-old told Under the Cosh: “Porro, I think going forwards, he?s a midfield player. He?s a wide player, great delivery, set-pieces are brilliant, but he was asked to play as a right-back and he was getting exploited.”
