‘Tottenham still have a hand on it’ – Club director remains coy about potential transfer
RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder has revealed that he contacted Timo Werner after the German’s season-ending injury last week.
Werner came off with a hamstring problem in the first half of last Sunday’s North London Derby and it was subsequently confirmed that the injury will keep him out of the rest of the season.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham will activate the £15m option to buy the 28-year-old permanently. Spurs will have to make that decision quite early in the transfer window as the option is only valid until June 15 (TEAMtalk).
Ange Postecoglou admitted a few days ago that Werner has had a positive impact since signing for the club but he insisted that a decision on the forward’s future will only be made at the end of the season depending on Tottenham’s overall summer plans (Football.London).

Timo Werner’s future is in Tottenham’s hands
Schroder has now indicated that the former Chelsea man’s loan spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been a success, with all parties happy with how it has gone.
He told Bild (via Sport Witness): “We had already had brief contact with Timo, and of course we wished him well. The end of the season is bitter for him.
“He was good at it, was a regular player and achieved good performances and scored for Tottenham. So far the loan has delivered what all parties had hoped for.”
