Alasdair Gold reports injured Spurs player is ‘more likely’ to leave in JanuaryÂ
Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur were planning on offloading Ryan Sessegnon this summer before he picked up an injury, which is why a January exit is likely for the former Fulham man.
Injuries have prevented Sessegnon from fulfilling his potential at Tottenham, with the youngster having a number of spells on the sidelines since making the switch to the club back in 2019.
The 23-year-old might have been hoping to impress Ange Postecoglou in pre-season but his hopes were dashed when he picked up another hamstring injury at the start of July and subsequently had to undergo surgery.

The Daily Mail reported a couple of months ago that Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham all had their eyes on the left-back during the summer but their pursuits of the player ended following his injury. The publication suggested that Postecoglou was yet to make a final decision on Sessegnon’s future at the time and was hoping to do so after assessing him in pre-season, which he ultimately did not get a chance to do.
Gold has now said that Tottenham would have allowed the full-back to leave in the summer if he had not suffered the injury.
