Journalist says Spurs could pounce if Chelsea and Arsenal fail to sign 27-year-old
Journalist Dean Jones has said that while Tottenham Hotspur are one of Ivan Toney’s admirers, it is Arsenal who are at the front of the queue to secure the Brentford star, according to his sources.
With Toney set to enter the final year of his contract with Brentford this June, the 27-year-old looks set to be one of the most hotly contested players of the January window.
Tottenham have repeatedly been named as one of the contenders for the centre-forward, with HITC revealing a couple of weeks ago that Ange Postecoglou’s men are prepared to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea for the player’s signature.
While some sources over recent weeks have claimed that Arsenal are the favourites to land the England international (CaughtOffside), others such as David Ornstein have suggested that the Gunners are not guaranteed to pursue the 27-year-old and are also looking at other options (The Athletic).

However, Jones has now said that Mikel Arteta’s men will vie for Toney’s signature if the striker is available for less than £60m but explained that others, including Spurs, also remain quite keen on the player.
