International captain keen on West Ham move ahead of World Cup

West Ham may have been presented with a superb signing on a plate, with the news that an international captain is keen on joining the Hammers during the January transfer window.
Sky Sports states that Russia captain Fyodor Smolov is keen on a transfer to East London, which could go ahead after the Hammers sanction the departure of Senegalese ace Diafra Sakho.

28-year-old Smolov is due to lead the line for his nation at their own World Cup this summer and his stock has risen significantly following a successful time in his homeland with Krasnodar, where he has scored 59 times in 90 games.
Available for just £15m, the experienced hitman could be the ideal attacking recruit for a West Ham signed who have struggled to find consistency in front of goal this season- particularly with question marks lingering over the head of summer recruit Javier Hernandez.
Smolov, who is fluent in English, has shown his talent against the top sides already in recent months after hitting a brace in a friendly clash against Spain.
