West Ham United have started to scout VfB Stuttgart winger Chris Führich as he continues to impress this season.
That?s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the Hammers are stepping up their interest in the 26-year-old.
Führich has been earning rave reviews for Stuttgart this season, with seven goals and seven assists in 25 games in the Bundesliga so far meaning he is on course for his best season in the German flight in his career.
Those numbers have earned him plenty of attention and West Ham have been thrown in the mix this month, with a report at the beginning of it naming them as suitors.
That was followed by another earlier this week insisting they can afford him and get a deal done this summer.
Plettenberg now reports that West Ham have stepped up their efforts and ?started to scout? the player, closely monitoring his performances until the end of the season. They face competition from within Germany for him as Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also in the mix while Bayern Munich have all the details on him but are yet to name him as a target.
His current asking price isn?t certain as if Stuttgart qualify for the Champions League, he would cost around ?20m, which is the value of his release clause.
Whether West Ham would be willing to pay that remains to be seen, but they?re watching Führich nonetheless.
