Under-21s back at Leyland tomorrow
Having beaten Swansea on Tuesday of this week, the under-21s are back in action tomorrow when Bristol City are the visitors to the County Ground at Leyland.
That win at Swansea restored our sixth place position in the northern group of the Professional Development League and with four games to play, we?ll be hoping to potentially move up a couple of places in the table by the time we complete our fixtures.
Bristol City are not having quite so good a season and currently sit next to bottom in the south group, ahead only of Colchester although they ended a run of three defeats this week when they beat Hull 3-1 at home, a result that allowed us to move back up in our league. Callum Hutton, Jamie Knight-Lebel and Marley Rose were their scorers in a game they ended with ten players after goalkeeper Josey Casa-Grande was sent off. This is a fixture we are still to win. In the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons we were beaten 3-1 and 3-2 with Bristol City having home advantage in both games. Jamie Thomas scored our goal in the first of them with Rob Harker and Dan Agyei finding the net in the second.
We were scheduled to play them at home in 2019/20 but it was one of the games cancelled because of the pandemic. Last season, also in April, we drew 1-1 against them at a time when Bristol City were hoping to go top of the south group. The two goals came within fifteen seconds of each other, Joe Westley giving us the lead and Seb Palmer-Houlden equalising for the visitors.
Our team a year ag...
