John Terry has named an Arsenal legend as the one player he ‘feared the most’, as the Chelsea legend was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
On Monday, the former Chelsea and England captain became the latest player to be voted into the Hall of Fame, alongside Manchester United and Newcastle hero Andy Cole.
‘To be recognised by your peers and the supporters is special. For me it is the best league in the world, so I?m very proud of what I achieved alongside my team-mates,’ Terry said.
‘I fell in love with football at a young age and it?s emotional to reflect on the time spent playing.
‘It has been an incredible journey. At the time you?re not thinking let?s do this to become part of the Hall of Fame, you just want to work hard and try to win and to be remembered as someone who gave their all for the team and the supporters.’
Considered one of, if not the greatest centre-back in the competition’s history, Terry skippered Chelsea to all five of their Premier League titles and kept 214 clean sheets in 492 appearances – the most of any defender.
Reflecting on his long and successful career, Terry picked out the four toughest rivals he ever encountered on the pitch.
