Everton could have chance at bargain deal for summer target – Club really need to sell
Everton could be handed a second shot at Salernitana?s Boulaye Dia this summer, with the Italian side keen to get rid.
That?s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Everton were interested last summer and could now get the forward at a reduced price.
The newspaper explains that Salernitana are preparing for a busy summer as they?re set to be relegated from Serie A and that will see players depart.
While some will go on the cheap because of relegation clauses, the intent at the club is not to reduce values too much and try to do business smartly.
It?s a different situation when it comes to Dia, though, who they simply have to move on after a disastrous year and a complete break up of their relationship with him.
He was the star man last year but has barely featured this year after falling out with the club over their decision to block a move to Wolves late in the summer transfer window. He?s currently in a dispute with the club over refusing to play, something which has been taken to an Arbitration Panel and could see his wages reduced amid various punishments.
Either way, a sale is needed and Salernitana have dropped their demands considerably, going from a previous ?40m asking price to ?20m. The latter is the lowest they can accept to ensure they make a profit after paying ?12m to sign him permanently from a loan deal at Villarreal.
That, though, seems a little high and with relegation on the cards too, there?s every chance that he could be signed for much less, or eve...
