Erling Haaland should have joined Real Madrid and not Manchester City, as that move would have seem him become ?truly worldly?.
That?s according to journalist Wim Kieft, who thinks the striker made the wrong choice when he elected to leave Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian superstar joined Manchester City in a ?60m deal last summer and hasn?t looked back since, scoring 83 goals and registering 15 assists in 92 games since.
His first season was an unmitigated success as he scored 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions, but his second season has been more a struggle due to injuries, although he?s still managed 31 goals in 39 games.
He failed to score in both legs of their Champions League quarter-final clashes with Real Madrid, though, with him largely absent from proceedings as Manchester City were knocked out at the Etihad this week. That?s led to plenty of criticism for the striker who some think is ill fitted to the system that Pep Guardiola plays despite the high number of goals he has managed in it.
Kieft is one of those, believing he should have joined Real Madrid instead.
“It’s a lot about Haaland and I don’t think he is the right striker for Manchester City,” he said.
“Despite the fact that he has scored a lot of goals, he is forced far too much to play football in a small space. He is expected to be able to combine with that. That is not where his strength lies, because that strength lies in the transition.
