“Last convulsions” – Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United speech fails to impress, belief he “kicks in open doors”



It doesn?t take much for the Dutch press to criticise Manchester United manager  Erik ten Hag, and it seems his speech in the win after Newcastle United is the latest excuse.
Journalists René van der Gijp, Johan Derksen and TV present Wilfred Genee cover the Dutch coach today and how they weren?t inspired by his post match comments.
Ten Hag took to the pitch following Manchester United?s 3-2 win over Newcastle earlier this week, the club?s last home game of the season.
He addressed the club?s fans, thanking them for their support during the season and promising a 100% effort when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
He labelled the supporters as the best in the world but faced boos from some sections of the stadium, who were seemingly less than impressed by Ten Hag?s efforts to win over them over after a difficult campaign. Questions remains about his future at the club, with his current deal still having a year to run and numerous reports suggesting that new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team may wish to go in a different direction.
His speech was seen as an attempt to convince Manchester United to stick by him, but the Dutch journalists were less than impressed.
“I did have my reservations about that speech on the pitch. He just kicks in open doors,” Van der Gijp said.
