Why Tottenham U21s are not champions yet, despite finishing top of the PL2 table
The Tottenham Hotspur youth side have finished top of the Premier League 2 table, but they have not been crowned champions. Here, we explain why that is and what they need to do to secure glory.
It has been an exciting season for Tottenham, both in the senior squad and among the youth teams.
Ange Postecoglou has come in and implemented a far more entertaining and attacking style of football in the first team, and that ethos appears to have bled through into the Under 21 side, too.
Players like Jamie Donley, Yago Santiago, and Will Lankshear have excelled in their age group, contributing tonnes of goals and assists between them as the Spurs Under 21s stormed their league.
After 20 league matches in Premier League 2, Tottenham’s Under 21 team finished top of the 26-team table with 14 wins and just two defeats all season. They ended up four points clear of second-placed West Ham, but haven’t been able to lift the trophy, yet.

Why haven’t Spurs Under 21s won the league"
That’s because a new rule was introduced this season for the Premier League 2 competition, which sees the top 16 teams take part in a knock-out format to decide the ultimate winner.
The Spurs youth team defeated 16th-placed Aston Villa on Monday in a 4-3 victory, with Lankshear bagging the winner in the 100th minute of the game.
They will now take on Liverpool in the quarter-finals on May 12. ...
