“One step back…” – Player talks about joining West Brom in the summer window
Even though West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jeremy Sarmiento could not join Ecuador’s squad due to an injury, he’s been speaking to the South American media about his current form.
It was at the start of the month that the Baggies confirmed he’ll miss out for a few weeks, meaning he’d stay out of the World Cup qualifying rounds.
Sarmiento has now been interviewed by Mundo Deportivo EC, and in quotes relayed by El Universo, he claimed he’ll soon recover.
“I’m really looking forward to being back in the team. There’s not much time left to get back on the pitch.”
The Brighton loanee recalled that he also had some bad luck with the Seagulls, and will be looking forward to recovering well. “As you know, with Brighton the plan was to get that habit of playing again, getting minutes, which is what is going to do me the most good for these injuries. That’s what we’re doing now. When I’m well again, I imagine I’ll be playing a lot more minutes, which is good for the national team as well.”
Sarmiento left Brighton to join West Brom on a season-long spell. He talked about his decision to move to the Championship, explaining that it’s all a part of his plan.
