West Bromwich Albion could have been handed their second chance at signing Hertha Berlin striker David Selke as he eyes a move in January.
That?s according to BILD, who say the striker turned down a move to the Hawthorns in the summer but now could have changed his mind.
They explain that a ?winter change is getting closer? for the player, who has managed just 209 minutes of action in 11 games this season.
As a result he wants to leave in the January transfer window and has already ?informed? his club of ?his desire to move?. However, it remains to be seen whether Hertha will allow him to do so.
Selke?s contract at Hertha expires in the summer so any transfer would likely be on a free but they consider the player, who they paid ?8m for in 2017, as someone who still has a market. While they would more than happily get his wages, which are more than ?3m a year, off the books, they would also like to recoup a figure for him.
That is something they could have done in the summer when West Brom and several other clubs showed an interest, but Selke ?turned down all opportunities? presented to him.
It?s suggested he would have preferred a move somewhere more glamorous, and there are now interested parties in Italy that could offer it to him.
It remains to be seen if they will get involved, though, with the only clear thing being that the striker ?is looking for a new challenge? to get playing time and enjoy his football again, something West Brom can offer him.
