David Moyes has revealed Alphonse Areola will miss West Ham’s Premier League clash against Tottenham on Tuesday due to a groin injury.
The 31-year-old was forced off at half time during West Ham’s 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Lukasz Fabianski replaced Areola at St James’ Park and the 38-year-old is set to be handed his fourth Premier League start of the season for Spurs’ visit to the London Stadium on Tuesday evening.
‘He [Areola] has hurt his groin, at the moment it looks like he’s unlikely to start,’ Moyes said during his press conference on Monday afternoon.
‘We hope it’s not too serious but he’s not going to be available on Tuesday.
‘Fortunately we don’t see it being too serious, he might be back quite quickly.’

West Ham currently sit seventh in the Premier League following their loss at Newcastle and a win against Spurs would keep them in the same position but one point behind Manchester United, who will have two games in hand.
Moyes side will then play Wolves at Molineux this Saturday before the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen next Thursday.
