Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo is a ‘symptom of the impotence’ which is ‘invading’ Barcelona at the moment, according to Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
It’s explained that few players in the club’s squad have the same talent level as Cancelo, and he showed his worth in a big way when he arrived on loan from Manchester City.
Those initial heights feel like a long time ago now, and there’s frustration at the Camp Nou that Cancelo isn’t at his very best. That’s seen as an example of the squad generally, and there’s some negativity building.
He’s said to have lost the ‘best version’ of himself he displayed earlier in the season, and is wobbling a little when it comes to confidence. Previous reports have repeatedly stated Barcelona want to agree a permanent deal with Manchester City in the summer, but want to pay a lot less than the Premier League club will be asking for.
The Blaugrana’s finances are once again in a mess and there’s going to be restrictions again in the next transfer window.
Cancelo, who it’s always insisted wants to stay at his loan club, will hope his form can change and a deal be agreed.
