“I end up feeling old” – Manchester City star on the ‘energy’ youngsters are injecting into training
Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is sounding a little tired after youngsters joined the Portuguese national team squad and gave it all in training.
The midfielder spoke to the Portuguese media, and quoted by O Jogo, he lightheartedly suggested he’s feeling it a bit.
Bernardo Silva first spoke about Roberto Martinez’s training sessions, and generally there doesn’t appear to be an issue.
“It’s definitely very positive. Personally it helps because it’s a gruelling season and we’re fighting for every competition, so it’s good to have a few days to relax and then come back energised for the last three months. It’s great to have a rest so that we don’t arrive at the European Championships mentally worn out. We’ll arrive well to help Portugal fight for the title,” said Bernardo Silva. Silva also commented on the young players who’ve been joining Portugal’s squad, and it’s breathing some life into things.
“I’m not going to single out any names, but it’s a joy to welcome the youngsters and see their energy. I end up feeling a bit old when I see the strength with which they come, the strength to train. That’s what we need. This energy is always something very positive.”
