Moves to make sure Manchester United have to pay ?40m+ for player – Battle with Barcelona possible
On Wednesday, ESPN Argentina revealed Manchester United interest in Franco Mastantuono.
It was said the Red Devils joined the race for the 16-year-old, who’s making his way through River Plate’s first team and is already protected by a ?30m release clause.
The Buenos Aires giants are already working on a new move to keep him, and ESPN is now back with a fresh story about it.
It’s claimed that right after the stories about Manchester United and Barcelona interest, River Plate want his release clause raised to ?40m.
His current deal lasts until December 2025, but their idea is to have him tied until 2027. That seems like River Plate are indeed concerned about a Manchester United and Barcelona chase for the player, who can’t leave Argentina until he turns 18 in August next year.
A new contract would definitely put the Argentine side in a more comfortable situation, as his current ?30m clause is certainly not a lot for South Americans these days, as there have been some moving for more than that.
