Late on Tuesday, the news that Juventus were on the verge of signing Carlos Alcaraz from Southampton on loan made big waves.
Details have slowly filtered through over the course of Wednesday, with Gianluca Di Marzio trying to give as many details as possible in his latest article on the Saints player and his move.
Starting off by recalling that Southampton and Juventus have reached an agreement for the midfielder, he details the young player will be joining on an initial £3.2m loan with an option to buy him permanently set at £42m.
That?s been well publicised, but what hasn?t is that the amount paid up front can vary as the deal goes on.
Di Marzio points out that if Juventus ?let him play little?, then the ?price of the loan will increase?, but it will decrease if Alcaraz ?plays a lot?. Therefore, it?s in the Serie A side?s best interests to give him as many minutes as possible between now and the end of the season.
The more he plays and hopefully impresses, the more chances Southampton have to get that £42m, but first, he must complete the move.
While there is an agreement, he hasn?t travelled yet, and Di Marzio states that the player?s arrival in Turin ?depends on the visa?, which will allow him to make the move.
Therefore, there is a need to wait as ?technical and bureaucratic? issues get sorted, with his arrival potentially be as late as Friday.
