England manager Gareth Southgate is pleased with the 31-year-old?s decision to leave Spurs for the Bavarian club.
However, speaking to Sky Deutschland, the Three Lions coach made it clear he had no role in the defender?s exit from Tottenham.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to relay Southgate?s comments.
?I didn?t speak with Eric. But it?s a great move for him. Bayern Munich are an incredible football club. Wonderful history. One of the biggest clubs in world football. So, for Eric it?s a great opportunity. He?s a really good guy. He has been a big part of our journey as a team. We wish him really well with that,” he said. Ange Postecoglou?s arrival last summer impacted the England international?s game time at the north London club. He was restricted to 198 minutes from four league games at Spurs this season.
This resulted in the player, who can operate in defence or in the middle of the pitch, being linked to several clubs, before Thomas Tuchel?s side secured his services.
A lack of regular opportunities at Tottenham also resulted in Dier being left out of the England squad in the last three international breaks.
Dier has made three appearances for Bayern so far and will hope that more game time will improve his chances of representing his country at the European championship.
