Tottenham ahead in race for signing – Spurs ‘would be ready’ to pay up and seal deal
Last month, Gazzetta dello Sport explained Tottenham Hotspur had scouted Genoa star Albert Guðmundsson.
Spurs continue to be in the mix for the attacking midfielder, according to Calciomercato.
The Iceland international has scored 12 goals and registered four assists from 28 games this season. He went without scoring for six games before ending his poor run against Monza at the weekend.
Guðmundsson?s recent dip in form hasn?t put off interested parties, including Tottenham, who continue to have him in their sights for the summer.
Fiorentina, who failed to sign the 26-year-old in January, are still interested, and there?s been claims of interest from Inter Milan and Juventus. The Italian clubs have to be wary of the competition, especially from England. Tottenham are the only Premier League side named in the report. It?s claimed Spurs are leading the line of suitors from England, and ?would be ready? to satisfy the Serie A side?s request for the player.
There?s no mention of the Italian club?s demands, but Genoa CEO Andres Blasquez had earlier stated Guðmundsson can leave in the summer for ?35m.
Tottenham signed Radu Dr?gu?in from Genoa in January and their good ties with the club could help them.
