Kane joins two Liverpool stars in Ballon d’Or nominations



Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker have been named among the nominees for this year’s men’s Ballon d’Or award.
Brazil keeper Alisson has made an impressive start to life at Anfield, recording five clean sheets in 10 appearances so far, including in yesterday’s 0-0 draw against the champions Man City, while Firmino has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s best player’s this time around.
Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale is also on the list fo the annual prize, presented by France Football magazine.
Man City forward Sergio Aguero, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Paris St-Germain attacker Edinson Cavani are also contenders.
Thibaut Courtois, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne and Diego Godin have also been added to the list. Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane and Chelsea pair Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante increased the Premier League representation when the third set of nominees was announced.
Kane scored 30 Premier League goals last season, the first time he has reached the landmark, and then won the World Cup Golden Boot with six goals as England reached the semi-finals.
Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, a World Cup winner with France, and Real and Spain midfielder Isco are also in contention.
