Report: Troy Parrott’s weird red card situation takes another turnÂ
Excelsior Rotterdam can breathe a sigh of relief after Troy Parrott escaped with just a one-match suspension instead of the expected three-game ban after his red card a little over a week ago.
Parrott has led the line impressively for Excelsior this season, with the centre-forward having provided eight goals and four assists in 22 matches in the Eredivisie so far this season (Transfermarkt).
In the club’s 4-0 win over Volendam on April 12, a game in which he found the back of the net, the striker was given his marching orders towards the end of the game following a scuffle between the two sets of players.

The 22-year-old was not actually on the pitch at the time but he was shown a red card for his involvement in the altercation and there were fears that he would miss three games.
However, according to Football.London, the Republic of Ireland international has been handed just a one-game ban by the Dutch FA, which Excelsior have agreed to.
The outlet quotes the Eredivisie club’s technical manager Niels van Duinen as saying about the ruling: “We do not agree with the punishment and believe that a suspension is disproportionate to what Troy has done.
“At the same time, the prosecutor leaves little room for interpretation and we consider the chance of a review of the sentence to be nil. That is why we have decided to agree to this punishment wit...
