Kieran Tierney insists he has ‘no problem’ with Arsenal after the club decided to send him out on a season-long loan to Spanish club Real Sociedad.

The Scotland international defender was one of a number of players Arsenal wished to offload this summer.

It is thought that Arsenal wanted to sell Tierney permanently and sporting director Edu was attempting to put a buy obligation in any potential deal.

But a move to Newcastle United fell through as Eddie Howe’s side opted to bring in Lewis Hall and after Tierney was linked with a return to former club Celtic, he eventually joined Real Sociedad on loan – with no obligation to buy included.
Tierney has now spoken about his move to La Liga and said: ‘I left because last season I couldn’t play a lot and what I wanted was to play a lot of games and I wanted to try to do it at Real Sociedad.

‘I don’t have any problem with Arsenal. Knowing that Real Sociedad wanted to have me here, feeling all the love from the people here was very good.

‘Being in the Basque Country, having the experience of living here and playing in La Liga, is something I am very proud of. I hope things will go very well for me here.’
