There has been a perception among the Tottenham fan base that the club have always prioritised a top-four finish over the cup competitions.
The supporters have seemingly been quite frustrated by this approach and a majority of them would now prefer to see Spurs lifting silverware, particularly given that the club’s last trophy came all the way back in 2008.
The Carabao Cup undoubtedly represents Tottenham’s best chance of ending their trophy drought, which is why many will hope to see Ange Postecoglou prioritise the clash against Manchester City by naming a strong side.

Ange Postecoglou comments on the importance of cups
Postecoglou has now said that one cannot judge league form independently of the cup displays, with all results coming down to the team’s consistency at the end of the day.
However, the 59-year-old acknowledged that the league finish is a better indicator of progress since it is over 38 games.
