Aston Villa Women Season Preview

After a successful campaign in 2022/23 which saw the club’s best finish of 5th in the Women?s Super League, record attendances and season ticket sales. Carla Ward?s Aston Villa are looking to push on in the coming season and close the gap on the top four sides in the division.
Notable performances from summer signings Kenza Dali, Danielle Turner and the record-equalling golden boot winner Rachel Daly as well as loan signings Anna Patten and Kirsty Hanson made it a season to remember. Reaching the FA Cup Semi-Final following a narrow defeat to Chelsea and first wins over sides like Arsenal and Manchester City in the Super League highlighted just how far the side had gone.
Players were rewarded for their performances with call-ups to represent their countries at the World Cup this summer. Rachel Daly, Hannah Hampton and Jordan Nobbs were called up to represent England while Lucy Staniforth was on standby. Kenza Dali will represent France, Ruesha Littlejohn representing Ireland in their first World Cup and Alisha Lehmann representing Switzerland this could be a summer to remember. New contracts were handed out to Sarah Mayling and Dali and let’s not forget manager Ward committing her future to the club.
