Barcelona?s young guns have reinvigorated the club

Players 21 and under are the present and future of FC Barcelona FC Barcelona is feeling strong heading into el clásico after a famous victory masterminded by a foreign coach who has directed a group of youngsters and academy players - oh, and a superstar striker who many thought was over the hill - to perfection.
La Masia is the most famous academy in world football, and with good reason. A large portion of FC Barcelona?s players in their win over FC Bayern Munich 4-1 were graduates from the academy, even if they took differing paths after receiving their footballing education.
Not all of Barcelona?s youngsters are academy products, and not all of their academy products are in their early 20s. But there is significant overlap there. Let?s talk about the young players that are giving Barcelona fans a reason to believe. Let?s start with Pau Cubarsà and Lamine Yamal, both 17. The level they have shown at that age is truly ridiculous for their age. Having a defender start and perform well in high profile UEFA Champions League matches is crazy. And Yamal being a pivotal player in a side that won the UEFA European Championship at 16-going-on-17 is simply unheard of. It?s just a shame that Marc Bernal, also 17, is currently injured.
Moving on, we have a couple of 18 and 19 year olds who have a future but are not established yet as key members of the first team - Héctor Fort and Sergi DomÃnguez. There?s other B teamers a...
