Racism against Lamine Yamal again proves La Liga has not done enough to stop bigotry

It is sadly common to hear these types of insults in the Spanish league What was mainly a joyous occasion for FC Barcelona was blemished by the ugly specter of racism when a portion of Real Madrid fans insulted Lamine Yamal using derogatory terms.
On videos posted to social media, one could hear fans screaming and directing racist insults toward him in a game Barcelona ultimately won 4-0.
To think that fans - many of whom are grown men - would resort to these tactics against an actual minor (Yamal is only 17 years old) is despicable.
Real Madrid has posted a statement saying they condemn the racist insults and that they would launch an investigation to find those responsible. We shall see where this investigation goes, but one has to wonder why La Liga has not been able to at least curb the racism present in the stands in several games. Of course, Yamal has not been the sole target of such insults in La Liga. Madrid?s own VinÃcius Júnior has spoken about the issue in the past, as he has been targeted by several fans. He is possibly the most famous face of the anti-racism movement in the league, but he?s unfortunately far from the only. It seems almost every player with African heritage will eventually be targeted.
