Post Match Observations: Black and Yellow Pokal Exit in Wolfsburg

Can Sahin?s seat get any hotter" Gregor Kobel hammering his water bottle into the ground after 120 minutes says it all. It?s an early exit of the pokal for BVB and just one win and four defeats in the last five matches. I?m currently watching the players in front of the BVB away crowd, and their faces say it all. It?s a mix of sadness, numbness and disappointment. I especially note Emre Can looking like he?s almost about to tear up.
This game wasn?t as bad as the one in Augsburg, but that doesn?t say much. This game was ultimately decided by fine margins and one moment of partial luck and questionable defending in the box. Even though I?m currently experiencing a sensation of apathy for this team, I?ll still try and collect my thoughts on this match and maybe what it means going forward. Sahin?s Running out of Lifelines
I?m not the right person to judge whether Sahin should stay or go. I can keep on rambling about giving the coach the time he needs with a new set of players, but ultimately, the young coach is running out of lifelines. Sahin?s team has been struggling all season in the Bundesliga, and in the Champions League; Sahin has also shown signs of his inexperience, notably against Real Madrid in the 2nd half. The Pokal normally serves as that third lever that can paint over some of your less fortunate results in other competitions, but that lifeline is simply already used for Sahin now.
