Post Match Reaction: Sahin and BVB Toss a Win in the Bin

BVB lost in some fashion, turning a 2-0 lead into a 5-2 defeat against the best team in the sport. There?s losing from 2-0, and then there?s blowing it from 2-0. Dortmund blew it from 2-0 against Real Madrid in the third UCL matchday, turning a promising performance into what looked, after 90 minutes, like a pretty serious pasting.
Borussia Dortmund are as unpredictable right now as they have ever been, so it only made sense for BVB to enter the Bernabeu and play competitive, competent football which earned them a 2-0 lead going into the half. The midfield pairing of Marcel Sabitzer and Felix Nmecha was a significant improvement on what we have seen from Emre Can and Pascal Groß, despite Groß being BVB?s best performer of the season, next to Serhou Guirassy. The two holding number eights were fluid in the build-up and supported the defense, with Nmecha in particular showing an excellent passing range. Dortmund?s goals were well taken and showed high footballing IQ, something the team has missed all season. Then Sahin changed the shape and we lost. That?s pretty much all there is to it.
