Clarets come from behind to beat Barnsley

A goal behind in under five minutes, the under-21s came back to beat Barnsley 3-1 tonight to give the team a seventh win in eight games.
We should have been in front in the third minute but fell behind less than two minutes later. A bad mistake by a Barnsley defender let in Brandon Ly who just had the goalkeeper to beat but put his shot wide.
Former young Claret Callum West has made a habit of scoring goals against us. Twice last season he netted for clubs on trial while still a Burnley player and tonight he was the player on hand to find the net to give the visitors the lead.
They might have extended that lead to as a Burnley team, showing six changes from the one that beat Brighton in the Premier League Cup last Saturday, struggled to get any sort of foothold in the game. Barnsley paid for that when Joe Bauress (pictured) drew us level with a sensational goal from fully fifty yards. He hit his shot which sailed in past the helpless Kieren Flavell in the Barnsley goal.
Vernon Masara came close with a superb effort soon afterwards but Barnsley, for long periods, looked the more likely and the other ex-Burnley player in their ranks Nathan James was close with a header from a set piece.
Both Masara and Tommy McDermott were well off target with efforts but with half time approaching, João Mendes found Masara who curled a shot into the corner of the net from just outside the box, allowing us to take a lead into the second half.
