Cup day at the Turf

It might be the international break, leaving the first team with no game, but there will still be football at the Turf this afternoon when the under-21s take on Brighton in the Premier League Cup.
Both us and Brighton have kicked off our cup group campaigns with big wins; Brighton beat Reading 4-0 in the opening game and eight days ago we went to Luton and won 4-1.
Brighton and Reading are the two Category 1 clubs in our group and they?ve made a good start in Premier League 2 this season with four wins from their opening six games, this after losing their first game 2-0 at home against West Ham.
They followed that up with a 4-0 win at West Brom before drawing 1-1 at home against Wolves. Two more wins on the road came next at Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough before they finally secured a first home league win last Saturday, beating Crystal Palace by a staggering 10-0 scoreline with eight of those goals coming in the second half. Both Joshua Duffus and Harry Howell scored twice with Caylan Vickers scoring a second half hat trick.
It looks as though Brighton will be the toughest of our three opponents as we look for a top two finish to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition, but we go into the game in excellent form having won five of our last six games with only Sheffield United having beaten us. We might not have scored ten in a game, but those five wins have seen us score 21 times.
I can?t quite remember when reserve team football moved away from Saturday afte...
